The EYFS Curriculum

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Curriculum, which encompasses seven key areas of learning. The 3 prime areas of learning include, Communication and Language, Physical Development and Personal, Social & Emotional Development. The other areas are, Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding of the World and Expressive Arts and Design.

Forest School Approach

We believe that being outdoors is vital to a child’s wellbeing and development, teaching them healthy habits early on. We take our nursery’s outdoor activities very seriously and make sure our kids spend a good part of their day interacting with nature.

Outside there is the freedom to explore, use all five senses, and be physically active. The children have the support of attentive and engaged adults who are enthusiastic about the outdoors and understand the importance of outdoor learning.

We believe in the Forest School ethos that the closer to nature children are, the happier they will be and therefore the more likely they are to learn.

We let your child experience learning in a physically, mentally and emotionally healthy way through our Forest School Approach to learning. Children will develop high levels of confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning experiences through our nursery garden where children support in growing food to be cooked by our qualified chef.

The idea of taking the classroom outside was originally conceived in Sweden in the 1950s and this type of nursery is now commonplace throughout Scandinavia and many European countries. Being outside allows a child to reconnect with nature and gain a practical understanding of the world around them.
